Which trek in Pakistan is best for a first-timer?

The Nanga Parbat base camp treks from Fairy Meadows: nothing technical, a high point of about 3,967 m, and the easiest way for someone who is not a climber to stand under an 8,000 m peak. For a longer first trek with no technical ground, the K2 Base Camp trek out and back to Concordia is the classic.

Do I need a permit or NOC to trek in Pakistan?

Every trek needs its permits and park fees, which we arrange and include. Standard routes through Hunza, Skardu and the Karakoram Highway need no No Objection Certificate, but some border zones, certain valleys and most climbing objectives do, so tell us your route when you enquire — see visas and permits.

When is the trekking season in Pakistan?

Late June to late August for the high Karakoram treks such as K2 Base Camp and the Gondogoro La, with July the most stable month. Fairy Meadows and Nanga Parbat base camp run from May to early October, and September is the best month there.

How fit do I need to be for the K2 Base Camp trek?

Fit enough to walk six to eight hours a day for two weeks at altitude, carrying a day pack — the porters carry the rest. Our 16-week K2 training plan builds that over four months.
